Course description
This course covers the most commonly used drugs young people may use, including novel psychoactive substances (former legal highs), prescription medication (such as Xanax), cannabis and alcohol. It also covers issues such as ‘county lines’ and adolescent trauma. The course will help you identify symptoms, respond appropriately, and know when to refer to specialist services.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:

- Provide appropriate and accurate advice and information to young people on drugs

Course description
This one day, drug & alcohol training course will look at alcohol, prescription medication, NPS (former legal highs such as ‘Spice’) and the different types of illegal drugs that are commonly used.
Aims and objectives
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Recall basic definitions of commonly used terms
- Distinguish between drug & alcohol facts and myths
- Describe how various drugs affect the body
- Use the unit measuring system to work out how much a client is drinking
- Identify reasons why people use illegal drugs
