Alcohol IBA (Identification and Brief Advice)
Zoom or Teams Training
Alcohol IBA (Identification and Brief Advice) has been a central component of alcohol prevention strategies in the UK for many years. Alcohol IBA training can be used by non-specialist workers to identify people who may be at risk because of their drinking.
This 3 hour Zoom or Teams training session will cover a number of key basic facts in order to raise participant’s knowledge of alcohol and to develop participants’ confidence in responding to alcohol related needs.
Target audience:
This course is suitable for frontline staff, such as emergency fire, social and healthcare providers, who work in busy environments and come in contact with people who may be at risk because of drinking alcohol.

Identify alcohol use and reasons why people use alcohol

Use the unit measuring system / screening tools

Health and psychiatric information

Structure brief advice sessions with clients

Support a client to access appropriate services
Aim:
To raise knowledge of alcohol and to develop participants’ confidence in responding to clients’ alcohol related needs.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the session participants will be able to;

Identify alcohol use and reasons why people use alcohol

Distinguish between categories of alcohol misuse; hazardous, harmful and dependent drinking

List alcohol harms, the short and long term health impact

Costs:
£300 per session. This is for a maximum of 10 delegates.
